Cost Effective In-House Photography

I have extensive education and experience in photography. Yeah, I started back in the days of film. I was schooled on 4x5 chrome, using a densitometer, Cibachrome printing, and masking in the darkroom. Stuff that might not seem relevant in today's digital world, but my knowledge and understanding of technical tools really does give me an advantage in creating high quality studio images. I've noticed many less experienced photographers neglect to take the time and care to set up a shot properly only to "fix" poor quality images in Photoshop. I don't want to be too critical of this approach, if the client is pleased with the final image, that's really what matters... However a much better result can be found by using a traditional approach to creating an image directly on the camera sensor, and then fine tuning the image in post production. It's how I was taught and I still think it is the most time-effective way to create the highest quality images possible.

With both in-house groups and in my freelance experience, I have found huge cost savings can be realized with the purchase of good quality photographic equipment, and a photographer who knows how to set up, shoot and process the image.
